BEFORE

Ok so the office was a mess, I needed to do a little reorganization.

So three days of sorting and organizing then put it back together.

So, mind you this office is about 6 foot wide by 12 feet long. Tiny!!

It has a built in closet unit on the one side, and and attic door on the opposite side.

I tried to color it with art, since I rent this house, I do not want to put to much mulla into it! Trust me, if I could of busted out a cork wall and blackboard wall I would have.

AFTER

My Desktop, which is a dinosaur. Covered by one of my favorite finds of all time. The "Computer Dust Cloth" by: The Nonexistent LUDDITE Cloth Besmirching Company

....I found this in the bottom of a solids fabric bin at a housewares auction. I got it for a song!

I love the circus, and this vintage european Anderton and Rouland's never used circus poster rocks!! This also in a box lot.....Are you catching my drift- you have do dig!!!! hehe I love to dig.

As a window treatment, as I look for the perfect fabric to make a curtain out of, I used some of my original award ribbons.

Below is the Art I chose to feature in the room.

First is a collection of four pieces.

From far left clockwise:

All three of these pieces are done by a group of artist in Southern Ohio who I just cant get enough of. They exhibit at the Bryn Du Mansion here in Granville, Ohio once a year.

It is a artist group entitled The Rendville Art Works.

They are a collective artist colony of mentally and physically handicapped artists.

They just capture me. At the show, there is a line to get the works. It is like running to get the hottest toy at Christmas. I have been lucky to get these three pieces over the past few years. Others I have given as gifts but these each hold a special place in my heart.

Finally the last painting is a watercolor by Helen Kasserman in 1940.

I found it on the floor under a trunk in an antique store. I LOVE IT!! This meeting of puppets still life is just exquisitely wonderful.

Finally, my baby. This print is a mystery to me. I discovered it in a box lot estate auction folded up. It is two pieces and each and measures approx 5x6 ft. It is so whimsical, I want to be a part of this world, and it serves as a great inspiration of color and laughter on those long stressful days of work. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Snack of Art

A little bit of fun today found in the form of vintage snack bowls. These wonderful bowls measure 6 and 8 inches and are painted with lovely little characters to illustrate the use of the bowl. A dancing potato for the chip bowl, and a juggling peanut for the peanut bowl. I think these would be perfect to hold any party snack or to hang on a wall in a kitchen or play room.

Great find!!

Fabulous Vintage Ceramics

So, yesterday was a very hot and hazy summer afternoon. What better to do, then to arm myself with my camera and walk around the neighborhood shops and look for unique items. I found a plethora of fun items. Most being unique ceramics. From flower pots to toothpick holders, they were all fabulous.

All of the best shots came from this fabulous Vintage Store called Footloose.

They just opened an ETSY Store and its great!!

I think it will only get better!!

So, I was stumbling through etsy this AM looking for some owl pictures and found this great artist. I bookmarked him for later and went on my morning routine. Cinnamon Raison Bagel, notcot.org, coffee, job applications, email, notcot.org again. Well on notcot.org to my joy was a feature on him. It was fate to post this beautiful work in my blog!!

So I guess BOB DYLAN was detained by police for being a creepy peeper guy in smalltown NJ. They did not believe he was BOB DYLAN....I most everyone knows who this man is.

Most of know him from his hit song LET IT BE from his 1970 album "self portrait".

So amazing that a man this iconic was never "heard of" in this small town in Jersey.

So this portrait made me search from some awesome portraiture of Bob Dylan.

I secretly want a whole set of these of all my favorite bands and musicians for my wall. I think that would look awesome.

Before and After the Cemetery Club

Hello all!

I felt the need while sitting in a rehearsal for Secret Garden, to post a lil about an earlier project this summer, The Cemetery Club.

The Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio was excited to work again this year with talented fabric designer Amy Butler. Last year we worked with her fabrics to create the magical fairy costumes for "A Midsummer Night's Dream". It was a huge success! This year I asked Amy if she would be interested in helping out with the Cemetery Club set I designed.

When she said yes, the magic began. The First Project was to render the model of the set so the walls could be manufactured and painted.

At weathervane we have about 24 hours to change over from one show to the other so its a piece together project that must fly.

I did quite a few projects, of which i will post a lil later. The panels on the walls were just built out of 1x4 and streched fabric across the back. A great cost affective alternative to hiring craftsmen and painters to add molding detailing to a room, also great for dorms and rentals, they hang like a picture on the wall.

-Curtains (Craft)

-Lamps (before and after / craft)

First we will start with the couch.

So here is the couch I recovered. It took 11 hours to pattern and figure out. I had 12 yds of this fabric.

It was an old 70's dusty orange burlap covered single arm love seat. I recovered it, my first time on a sofa of this type, with Amy's August Field's Bright Buds, and a squiggly stripe from Daisy Chain as the contrast piping.

The chair Pictured above on the Right of the photo was a chair which Amy already had and loaned the theatre.

I sewed the tab top curtains in the bay window, and used muslin & the curtain fabric as trim for the roll blinds. I used 1.5" washers for the pulls.

Wow, it has been a while. With all of the economic recession this, and job loss that, I have been crazy working trying to cover this and that. Hehehe, what does that mean you may be asking yourself? I have been working on some more affordable designs, as well as some fun projects. Which reminds me I wanted to share some photo's of some paper craft projects I worked on for miss Amy Butler. I'm especially proud of the CooCoo Clock made from a vintage kitchen clock & Amy's newest scrapbook/paper craft collection from K&Company. I hope you enjoy!!

I promise I will try to post at least once a week starting today. I know I have been horrible. I have just been trying to make sure I am covered in this economic time. Recently I landed a wonderful job at a local coffee shop. I mean seriously folks it was destined to happen, I spend 15+ hours a week in local coffee shops reading blogs, researching, sketching & writing emails so why not just work at one for fun. I love it and River Road is especially fantastic because they have a very eco-friendly mindset. Organic Locally Made Teas by the wonderful Mootz Run Tea Farm & Petali Teas, wonderful coffee, and a great sense of community. They even feature great local artisian potters, painters and photographers. YAY!

Well hello everyone. I just wanted to say something about myself today!!

I know it's hard for you all to believe, but I am a horrid writer. I just cannot seem to used the right verbage, syntax, or spell for that matter.

So I have recently picked up a book. Its called "Woe is I: The grammaphobe's guide to better english in plain english" by Patricia T. O'Conner

Well now you know not to berate me for my lack of grammar and the like. At least until I have the time to read this fabulous book. It has already proven helpful.

So, last night I had the extreme pleasure of attending the Black Owls CD release concert at Brew's, a local beer bar here in Granville, Ohio.

As per all of their concerts it was totally amazing. So much fun.

Now, not only is the band great but they have a knack for designing the kewlest logo's and graphics, I'm sittin here with my tee-shirt on and listening to the Album as I type.

Hello everyone,

The name is Brice, and I'm obsessed with paper, stationery & anything graphic.

I am truly excited to share with everyone my new venture. Brice Corder Designs, Ltd. is a fresh fun & favorite fine stationery company, based out of Granville, Ohio. I have been working hard over the past few months to get ready for the launch of the company.

The launch is quickly approaching. There is just a lil bit of tweaking & designing that has to be completed and then. Everything will be available.

I will be operating at first with some of my tried and true accounts across the country, and working with an Etsy Store until Mid-October when sales reps. will be hitting the pavement in, so far, 9 states. Following that the official nation wide launch of Brice Corder Designs will be the it factor of the January & February Gift Shows across the country, including the official launch of the online store.
